TheUPSbatterybackupboardinterfacesdirectlytotheLVPSboard.ThreeLithiumioncellsareusedinaseries
arrangementandprovide9.6voltsat1200mAh,12WHrrated.Thebatterybackupassemblyconsistsofabattery
backupcircuitboardwiththreeLithiumioncellspermanentlyattached;italsoincludesacu
stombatterycharging
circuitandprotectioncircuitry.Thebatteriesandcircuitboardaresoldasaunitwhenreplacementbatteriesare
required.

powersupplyoutputs.
Duringthelastfifteenminutesofbatter ybackupoperation,thebatterybackupmaintainspowertothe
10MHzand1PPSInputcircuitryontheSignalProcessingboardandtheFPGA,OCXOandGPScircuitryonthe
PFRU.Bypoweringthesecircuitsthemodulatorcanmaintainthe10MHzOCXOdisciplineloopwhenthe
t
ransmitterlosespower.TheOCXOcantakethreeminutestostabilizefromacoldstartandthediscipline
loopitselfcantak eanhourtoreachthemaximumprecision;havingthedisciplineloopactiveduringapower
outageenablestheUAXtransmittertoreturntoairfasterwithgreaterfrequencyaccuracy.
